We show that given a type α of an adding machine, for a dense set of parameters s in the interval [ √ 2, 2], if f is the tent map with slope s, then the restriction of f to the closure of the orbit of the turning point is topologically conjugate to the adding machine map of type α.

It is shown that every unimodal map is realized as a restriction of a simple map defined on the unit disc to a part of its boundary. Our two-dimensional map is called a full-folding map, which is defined generally on a compact metric space. It is a generalization of the full tent map in that it has two homeomorphic inverse maps and thus every non-critical point has two inverse images.

Let K denote the inverse limit space obtained by using T repeatedly as the bonding map. We prove that every homeomorphism of K to itself is isotopic to some power of the natural shift homeomorphism.
